Fallon Sherrock, widely known as the “Queen of the Palace,” has become an iconic figure in the world of professional darts, making headlines with her trailblazing achievements and her role in elevating the profile of women in the sport.

However, recent events have led to Sherrock expressing her frustration with the politics and ongoing debates that seem to overshadow the actual competition in women’s darts.

In a candid interview, Sherrock did not hold back, making it clear that she believes it’s time for her fellow players, officials, and commentators to put an end to the excessive discussions and focus on their own performances on the oche.

### **Fallon Sherrock’s Unmatched Influence in Darts**

Sherrock’s journey in the sport has been nothing short of extraordinary. She burst onto the global stage in 2019 when she became the first woman to win a match at the PDC World Darts Championship, defeating Ted Evetts in a historic encounter that sent shockwaves through the sport.

Her victory not only broke barriers but also brought unprecedented attention to women’s darts, with many seeing her as a trailblazer who was redefining what was possible for female players.

Since then, Sherrock has continued to compete at the highest level, participating in various PDC events and earning the respect of her peers through her skill, poise, and determination.

However, as the spotlight on her has grown, so too has the scrutiny and pressure. The debates around gender equality, prize money discrepancies, and the inclusion of women in traditionally male-dominated events have often overshadowed the actual gameplay. This, according to Sherrock, is detrimental to the sport’s progress.

### **A Candid Call for Change**

In a recent interview, Sherrock expressed her growing discontent with the current state of women’s darts. “They just need to stop talking and focus on their own games,” she stated, addressing the various ongoing discussions that seem to dominate the narrative around women’s darts.

For Sherrock, it’s not about ignoring important issues, but about prioritizing the quality of the sport and ensuring that the focus remains on what happens on the oche rather than off it.

“There’s too much emphasis on what people think should be happening, and not enough attention on the games themselves,” she added.

“People are spending more time debating the politics of the sport rather than letting us play, and it’s frustrating.

I want to go out there and perform, not get dragged into constant discussions about where women belong in darts. We belong exactly where our performances take us—on the biggest stages.”

### **Frustration with Perceived Distractions**

Sherrock’s frustration is rooted in the perception that the continuous debates and political maneuvering are taking away from the achievements of female players.

Despite the strides made in recent years, the spotlight often shifts to controversies or discussions about how women’s darts should be organized, rather than celebrating the players’ skill and dedication. Sherrock believes that this undermines the legitimacy of their performances and distracts from the progress that has been made on the oche.

“There’s this constant need to compare us to the men or talk about what’s fair or not fair,” Sherrock explained. “And it’s taking attention away from the actual performances.

I’ve seen so many talented women in this sport who don’t get the recognition they deserve because the focus is always on something else—be it prize money, tournament structure, or inclusion in certain events. It’s exhausting.”

### **Standing Firm Amidst Criticism**

Sherrock’s strong stance has not been without backlash. Some critics argue that the debates around gender equality and representation are crucial for the sport’s evolution, and that Sherrock, as a prominent figure, should engage more deeply in these discussions.

However, she remains steadfast in her belief that the best way to advocate for change is by showcasing excellence on the oche.

“I get it, there are issues that need addressing,” she acknowledged. “But sometimes it feels like people just want to talk and talk instead of letting us play and prove ourselves. We’re athletes, not politicians.

I want to win matches, I want to entertain the fans, and I want to help the sport grow by showing that women can compete at the highest level. The rest will follow naturally.”

Sherrock’s approach is centered around performance-driven change. For her, it’s about using her platform to inspire others by competing fiercely and consistently, proving through results rather than rhetoric that women deserve their place in the sport’s top echelons.

### **An Advocate for Fair Recognition**

While she may be tired of the politics, Sherrock has not shied away from advocating for fair recognition and opportunities for female players. She has previously spoken out about the need for better support, improved prize money, and more chances for women to compete alongside the men in major events.

Her victory at the World Darts Championship proved that women are capable of competing with the best, and she has continued to push for more inclusive policies.

However, Sherrock’s recent comments suggest that she feels the constant discussions are becoming counterproductive. Rather than focusing on what needs to change, she believes the emphasis should be on encouraging better performances and letting the results speak for themselves.

“If we keep focusing on all the things we think are wrong, we’re going to lose sight of what’s right—our passion for the game, our drive to win, and our love for darts,” she stated.

### **Looking Ahead: A Focus on Performance**

With her sights set firmly on her future performances, Sherrock is eager to put the distractions behind her and focus on her game. She has several upcoming tournaments where she hopes to continue breaking barriers and proving her worth as a top competitor.

“I just want to play,” she reiterated. “I’m tired of being part of debates that seem to go in circles. I want to show people what I can do on the oche. That’s what matters most.”

Sherrock’s comments have sparked a renewed conversation among fans and fellow players about the balance between advocacy and competition. Many have expressed support for her viewpoint, agreeing that the constant focus on politics can sometimes detract from the enjoyment and appreciation of the sport.

Others, however, believe that ongoing discussions are necessary to ensure that women’s darts continues to evolve and that players receive the recognition they deserve.

### **A Pivotal Moment for Women’s Darts**

As Sherrock continues to make her mark in the sport, her words carry significant weight. Her willingness to speak out against the constant politicking in women’s darts reflects her desire to see the sport return to its roots—focusing on skill, performance, and the love of the game.

Whether or not her comments lead to a shift in the narrative remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Fallon Sherrock will keep doing what she does best—competing fiercely, winning titles, and inspiring a new generation of female players to follow in her footsteps.

In the end, Sherrock’s message is simple: let the darts do the talking. For a sport that has seen its fair share of debates and divisions, it’s a sentiment that many hope will resonate across the board, allowing women’s darts to shine for the right reasons—excellence, skill, and sheer love of the game.
