As the Kentucky Wildcats prepare to face the top-ranked Auburn Tigers, head coach Mark Pope has provided updates on key player injuries:
Jaxson Robinson: The senior guard, who recently returned from a wrist injury, experienced a setback during the Oklahoma game. He played 12 minutes in the first half, contributing seven points, but did not return for the second half due to discomfort. Coach Pope expressed concern, stating, “Jax’s wrist didn’t respond great tonight, so we’ll see how that is going forward.”
Lamont Butler: After missing three games due to a shoulder injury, Butler returned to the lineup against Oklahoma, logging 20 minutes. Coach Pope noted, “Lamont came out great,” indicating optimism about Butler’s availability for the Auburn matchup.
Andrew Carr: The senior forward, who has been dealing with back issues, also participated in the Oklahoma game. Coach Pope mentioned, “Andrew Carr came out really well,” suggesting a positive outlook for his participation against Auburn.
Amari Williams: The forward suffered an ankle injury during the Oklahoma game but continued to play. He practiced on Thursday, and his status will be evaluated based on Friday’s practice. Coach Pope described the situation as “a little bit of a mixed bag,” indicating uncertainty about Williams’ readiness.
The Wildcats will need all available resources to challenge the formidable Auburn team. The final decision on player availability is expected after Friday’s practice sessions.
