Locked In:”LSU Snags 5-Star Cornerback ZaKiyah Johnson, No.1 Overall, Over top SEC big Offers. Ohio, Texas, Michigan, Tennessee…..
Since 2023, LSU has prioritized Johnson, visiting her and maintaining frequent communication. Kim Mulkey and assistant coach Gary Redus have been tenacious from the beginning, developing close bonds with Johnson.
Over the summer, Johnson told On3 that he was “certainly pretty connected with all the personnel there.” They have a lot of energy, which I enjoy. Since I am also gregarious and lively, I believe we click there. I like that we are able to have lengthy talks.
Johnson, a 6-foot-tall, dynamic wing with success at every stop, gives the Tigers’ 2025 class more exciting potential as LSU aims to assemble one of the best groups in the country. Johnson led Sacred Heart to a state championship with a 31-7 record last year, averaging 18.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 2.1 steals while shooting 48 percent. Dec. 3 marks the start of Johnson’s senior season, capping an amazing high school career.
“I am adaptable,” Johnson said to On3. “I can lead in a variety of ways, whether it be through my play or my voice, whether I am playing or leading. I can be anywhere I need to be on the court, but I have really worked on being more vocal. Now that I have these younger girls, I just speak out and make sure they understand how they should, but before that, I kind of let my game speak for me. I firmly believe it will benefit me as I advance.
