Harry Kane has responded to speculation about his future amid reports suggesting a possible return to the Premier League, including an unlikely move to Liverpool.
Harry Kane appears to have ruled out a return to the Premier League this summer, despite recent surprise links to Liverpool.
While the Reds are on track to win the Premier League title—holding a 12-point lead over Arsenal with nine games remaining—it has become evident in recent weeks that Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes will have a busy summer transfer window ahead.
One of Liverpool’s main priorities will be securing a new No.9. Darwin Nunez appears likely to depart after three seasons, while both Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz have struggled for form recently. Arne Slot will need a stronger central option to complement Mohamed Salah.
Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez have both been mentioned as potential targets, with Liverpool previously showing interest in Alvarez last summer when he was set to leave Manchester City.
Surprisingly, Harry Kane’s name has also surfaced in recent days, with speculation suggesting the England captain might be considering a return to the Premier League—Liverpool even being touted as the frontrunner for his signature. While such a move seems highly improbable, some pundits have backed the idea. However, Kane has now addressed the rumors, making it clear he has no immediate plans to leave Bayern Munich.
“There are definitely a few random stories out there,” Kane said when asked about the recent speculation by ESPN. “I’m not sure where they come from, but I’m certainly happy here at Bayern Munich.”
Kane remains under contract at the Allianz Arena until 2027, with some reports suggesting his deal may include a release clause that could facilitate a future return to the Premier League. However, when asked if he envisions heading back to England one day, the 31-year-old indicated he hasn’t given it much thought.
“I’m not sure,” he admitted. “I’ve always said throughout my career that I don’t like to think too far ahead. I’m really happy here—we have a fantastic team and an excellent coaching staff.”
While I feel I’m in top condition, I want to compete at the highest level possible, and this is the pinnacle.
I understand that a lot can change quickly in football, and things can evolve, but my main focus is here. I’m not thinking about any other league or team.
In football, I prefer to go with the flow, and right now, that flow is with Bayern Munich.”
*Liverpool.com says: Kane to Liverpool always seemed like an unlikely move, didn’t it? Given his age and the wages he’s earning at Bayern, nothing about those transfer rumors made sense—apart from Liverpool needing a new striker. It seems like this one can finally be laid to rest.
