Al-Ahly Benghazi and Al-Ahly Tripoli Secure Spots in Libyan Basketball League Semi-Finals.
Al-Ahly Benghazi and Al-Ahly Tripoli have both advanced to the semi-finals of the 2024–25 Libyan Basketball League after impressive performances in their respective matchups.
In a tightly contested game held at the Benghazi Sports Hall, Al-Ahly Benghazi emerged victorious over their fierce rivals Al-Ittihad, clinching an 86–79 win. The match, which took place on Sunday evening, was played without spectators due to ongoing security concerns and organizational limitations. Despite the absence of fans, both teams delivered an intense and competitive showdown, but it was Al-Ahly Benghazi who managed to pull ahead in the final minutes to secure the win.
Elsewhere, Al-Ahly Tripoli delivered a commanding performance in their semi-final clash against Al-Madina. Riding high after recently winning the African Basketball Cup, the Tripoli-based team dominated from start to finish, overwhelming their opponents with a staggering 77–37 victory. Their strong defensive play and sharp offensive execution left little room for Al-Madina to mount a challenge.
Both semi-final matchups are structured as best-of-five series, meaning the first team to claim three wins will earn a place in the final. With these initial victories, Al-Ahly Benghazi and Al-Ahly Tripoli have taken early leads in their respective series and are now just two wins away from a spot in the championship round.
These results highlight the growing competitiveness and talent within Libyan basketball, as well as the dominance of the Al-Ahly clubs in both Benghazi and Tripoli.
