Former University of Kentucky basketball standout Oscar Tshiebwe has signed a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz. Tshiebwe, who played for the Indiana Pacers on a similar deal during the 2023-24 season, averaged 3.3 points and 2.0 rebounds in 8 NBA games and had an outstanding stint in the G League, earning Rookie of the Year and First Team honors. Tshiebwe, a native of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, played two college seasons at West Virginia before transferring to Kentucky, where he became the National Player of the Year in 2021-22. He led the nation in rebounding and secured 28 double-doubles during that season. As a senior, he continued to dominate the boards and was named a Second-Team All-American before declaring for the 2023 NBA Draft. Despite going undrafted, he was picked up by Indiana and now looks to make his mark with the Utah Jazz.
In other news, former Kentucky guard TyTy Washington has signed a two-way contract with the Phoenix Suns. Washington, a 2022 first-round pick, has played 42 NBA games with the Rockets and Bucks but will likely spend most of his time in the G-League due to the Suns’ deep guard rotation.
