Urska Zigart on Tadej Pogačar: “People warned me, but Tadej is still Tadej”
Urska Zigart has opened up about her relationship with cycling superstar Tadej Pogačar, addressing how fame and success have shaped their lives — and how Pogačar has remained the same person despite it all.
In a recent interview, Zigart shared that people often cautioned her about the potential changes that come with wealth and global recognition. “People warned me, ‘Pay attention, Urska. Money and fame, it does something to a person.’ But Tadej is still Tadej,” she said warmly, emphasizing the down-to-earth nature of the two-time Tour de France winner.
Pogačar’s rise to the top of professional cycling has been nothing short of meteoric. With his incredible talent and numerous victories, including his recent signing of an €8 million per year contract with UAE Team Emirates, the Slovenian rider has become one of the sport’s most celebrated figures. Yet according to Zigart, his success hasn’t changed his character.
“He’s still the kind, funny, and humble guy I fell in love with,” she said. “Despite everything he’s achieved, he stays grounded. The pressure, the fame — none of it has gone to his head.”
Zigart, a professional cyclist herself, understands the demands of the sport and the intense spotlight that follows Pogačar. Their shared experiences in the cycling world have helped them navigate the challenges of balancing high-profile careers with their personal lives.
The couple, who recently announced their engagement date, have been together for several years and often share glimpses of their life away from the racing circuit — from training together to supporting each other’s ambitions.
With Pogačar gearing up for the 2025 season and expressing his desire to challenge at the World Championship in Zurich, and Zigart continuing to pursue her own cycling goals, they remain a power couple in the sport. But for them, it’s the simple things that matter most.
“Tadej’s heart hasn’t changed,” Zigart added. “Fame and money haven’t made him any different. He’s still my Tadej.”
