To earn their spots, the swimmers were required to meet tough qualifying standards at officially recognised competitions. These benchmarks are designed to identify only the top performers in each age group, making this a remarkable accomplishment for both the juniors and Exmouth Swimming Club. It also highlights the continued progress and strength of the club’s junior competitive swimming program.
Liberty Moore, 10, has secured a place in the 200-metre butterfly, while 11-year-olds Niamh O’Connor and Rory Dixon qualified for the 100-metre and 50-metre breaststroke events, respectively. Their qualification builds on earlier success at the Devon County Championships, where Liberty earned a silver medal and Rory took bronze in their respective events.
Speaking about their achievements, Exmouth Swimming Club Head Coach Rob Yardley said, “We’re incredibly proud of these young swimmers. Reaching qualifying times at this level demands a high degree of skill and dedication, with athletes training in the pool four or more times each week.”
He added, “With over 90 children now training in our Junior and Youth Squads, we’re excited about the future and hope to see even more of our swimmers reaching county and regional success.”
Exmouth Swimming Club operates out of the pool at LED Exmouth Leisure Centre and has been nurturing and training competitive swimmers since 1893, originally under the name Exmouth Swimming & Life Saving Society. Over the years, countless Exmouth residents have learned to swim through the club, including some of the current coaches and volunteers.
In addition to its Junior and Youth Squads, the club also offers a Development Squad and a Masters Section, which welcomes adult swimmers—whether they’re looking to refine their technique or pursue competitive goals
