**Breaking News: Clemson Tigers Head Coach Announces Retirement After Health Scare Shocks Program**

*Clemson, SC –* In a stunning development that has sent ripples through the college football world, **Clemson Tigers head football coach Dabo Swinney** has announced his retirement, effective immediately, following a serious health scare earlier this month. The 55-year-old coach, who has been the face of Clemson football for over a decade, revealed his decision during an emotional press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Swinney, who led the Tigers to two national championships and multiple College Football Playoff appearances during his tenure, shared that he experienced a “significant cardiac episode” two weeks ago that required emergency medical attention. Though doctors were able to stabilize him and he is expected to make a full recovery, Swinney stated that the incident forced him to reevaluate his priorities.

*”I’ve always told my players to put faith and family first—football second,”* Swinney said, fighting back tears. *”Now it’s time I start taking my own advice. I’m stepping away from coaching so I can be fully present with my family and take care of my health. This program means the world to me, but I know it’s in good hands.”*

The announcement comes just days after the Tigers wrapped up spring practices and were preparing for what many believed could be a bounce-back season after a series of rebuilding years. Swinney, who took over the program in 2008, amassed a 178–38 record and is widely regarded as one of the most successful coaches in modern college football history. His teams were known for their explosive offenses, aggressive defenses, and a strong culture of brotherhood and accountability.

Clemson University President Jim Clements praised Swinney’s legacy during Tuesday’s press conference:

*”Dabo Swinney transformed Clemson football into a national powerhouse, but more importantly, he shaped the lives of countless young men with integrity, faith, and leadership. His impact will be felt for decades.”*

Athletic Director Graham Neff confirmed that Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator Brandon Streeter will serve as interim head coach while a national search is conducted.

*”We are grateful for everything Coach Swinney has given to Clemson,”* Neff said. *”Our priority now is to support him and his family, and ensure a smooth transition for our players and staff.”*

Reactions poured in from across the nation, with Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer stating:

*”College football just won’t be the same without Dabo on the sidelines. Wishing him a full recovery and a peaceful next chapter.”*

Former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence also chimed in on social media, writing:

*”Coach Swinney changed my life. Not just on the field, but as a man. Thank you for everything. You’ll always be our coach.”*

In a surprising but heartfelt moment, Swinney ended the press conference by saying:

*”Don’t be sad for me—this isn’t the end. It’s the beginning of something new. And no matter where I go, I’ll always be a Tiger.”*

Clemson University has announced that a public celebration of Swinney’s career will be held next month at Memorial Stadium, with thousands expected to attend. The legacy of Coach Swinney—one of championships, character, and community—will remain woven into the fabric of Clemson football forever.
