Breaking:No. 1 American Player Malachi Moreno Commits to Kentucky, Setting a New Record!!
Come on down, Malachi Moreno. Officially, you are the first 2025 recruit signed by Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats. To kick off the early signing period, the 6-foot-11 center from Georgetown signed a contract with the home-state Wildcats on Wednesday.
Regarding the program’s most recent addition, Pope stated, “I think Malachi Moreno is the best center in the country in this class.” He has outstanding tracking vision and is a top-tier passer. When it comes to protecting the ball, he is fierce around the rim and is not afraid to go rough. He will develop into a shooter of the highest caliber. Regarding his dedication, Moreno remarked, “You always wanted to wear on that Kentucky uniform growing up in Kentucky.” “It means the world to me to be able to travel there and put ‘Kentucky’ across my chest.”
During the 2024 state tournament run to the semifinals, Moreno averaged 17.3 points and 16 rebounds, recording a double-double in each of his three games. Moreno is seen as the preseason favorite to win Kentucky’s Mr. Basketball award ahead of his senior year in 2024–2025.
Moreno has competed on the AAU circuit for Indiana Elite, the same team that produced Travis Perry, a current freshman in the UK. This past summer, the team advanced to the Adidas 3SSB circuit final
